Desired Skills and Experience

Purpose of Role
Prepare, cook and present meals which are fresh, attractive, appetizing and nutritious to the residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe food is cooked and served to the residents
  • Ensure communication, reporting and documentation of Food Safety Records is timely and accurate.
  • Prioritize and organise workloads to provide meal services to residents
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Supervisor regarding meal services and report any changes.
  • Provision of cleaning as specified by the Cleaning Schedules and direction of the Supervisor.
  • Ensure communication, reporting and documentation of Cleaning Schedules is timely and accurate.
  • Monitor stock levels and report any changes to the Supervisor.
  • Prioritise workloads and respond effectively to changing situations.
  • Prioritise and organise workloads to provide meals to residents
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Supervisor regarding cleaning services and report changes.
  • Use appropriate strategies to promote self-esteem, dignity, integrity, safety, security and comfort to residents.
  • Ensure broken or damaged equipment is reported
  • Adhere to the Harbourside Food Safety Program.

 

Qualifications & Training

  • Certificate III in Cooking and Food Training Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Previous cooking experunce (essential)
  • Ability to be flexible, prioritising workloads and have the ability to multi-task
  • Have good Interpersonal skills
  • Have good Communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team orientated environment
  • Awareness of WHS requirements, particularly in manual handling and infection control
  • Understanding of Aged Care Sector (desirable)
  • Other food handling courses (desirable)
